Recent years have seen a remarkable growth of the automotive industry in Poland. The figures for passenger cars sold in the domestic market is not constantly on the up, yet it is the exports that matter for the Poland-based manufacturers (over 80% of production is exported). According to Eurostat, in 2016 the exports of automotive products from Poland increased by 3.8% and totalled EUR 7.6 billion.

Poland is home to the manufacturers of automotive parts (a threefold increase in exports within 10 years since Poland’s entry into the EU – as reported by the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors of Automotive Parts (SDCM)), engines, passenger cars, vans, buses, and semi-trailers. The demand for such products Europe-wide is not only attributed to the decent shape of the European automotive industry but also to the high competitiveness of Polish products, combining the attractive price and quality factors.

Many car parts manufacturers grown their Polish operations capitalizing on comparable or lower labour costs of qualified personnel. Good transportation network and the relative proximity to customers (crucial for “just on time” deliveries) have made the made-in-Poland car parts popular not only in vehicles manufactured in East-Central Europe but also in Germany, Italy, or France.

No wonder, Dąbrowa Górnicza has managed to attract such automotive parts industry players as Brembo, Saint Gobain Innovative Materials, Ficomirrors, or NGK Ceramics. Also small and medium Polish companies settle there with a view to partnering up with the industry’s movers and shakers. What attracts new business to Dąbrowa Górnicza is the convenient location near the junction of the Kraków-Wrocław-Cieszyn-Gdańsk roads, proximity to foreign markets, availability of qualified personnel, and various local incentives and assistance, e.g. exemption from the CIT in the special economic zone, property tax reliefs for any type of investor, or direct financial support if new jobs are generated.

Therefore, as part of their business offer improvement agenda, the authorities of Dąbrowa Górnicza and Katowice Special Economic Zone invite you to the 3rd edition of the conference, DĄBROWA GÓRNICZA-DIRECTION INVESTMENT. AUTOMOTIVE INVESTMENT-DIRECTION DĄBROWA GÓRNICZA.

The event combines two separate projects: an open conference on automotive business that brings together the industry representatives and encourages discussion and exchange, and informal networking and experience-sharing. The event has made it to the annual schedules of many automotive leaders in Poland as well as becoming a must-go initiative for business services institutions and government administration. Recent years have shown that the conference has become an international event since more and more foreign participants register each year.

This double anniversary: the 100th anniversary of city right by Dąbrowa Górnicza and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Katowice Special Economic Zone will be an excellent opportunity to talk about success and future plans. Dąbrowa Górnicza inspires and attracts with its unique investment climate, attractive land, and a high level of business assistance and services. The Katowice Special Economic Zone is Europe’s best and world’s second best establishment of this kind, according to the Global Free Zone of the Year 2015 ranking held by the Business Financial Times magazine.

The subject of this year’s edition will revolve around new investment in the automotive industry and support instruments tailored to the needs of automotive businesses. The latest and innovative solutions will be presented that create best opportunities for maintaining a competitive edge.
