This year’s edition is the third part of the “Partnership for sustainable construction” cycle. Its founder and main sponsor is Polish general contractor RD bud. The theme of this year’s cycle is sustainable design.

The first seminar, “Sustainable design- the need for integrated design”, as part of this year’s cycle will be held on March 27 in Wrocław. It will initiate a nationwide series of seminars combined with workshops aimed at all professional groups involved in the construction process.

This third stage of the project aims at raising awareness on sustainable development, by initiating discussions among all industry players in the implementation of investments in the most interesting Polish regions.

The main objective of these meetings is to build awareness about sustainable design in the construction industry by initiating discussions among all participants in the investment process for investments in the most interesting regions of Poland. The aim of organisers is also to strengthen cooperation between all participants in the construction process: investors, developers, investment funds, design bureaus, realtors, general contractors and local government representatives.

“Our goal is to educate and develop principles of cooperation of all participants in the investment process at every stage, so that the development of sustainable buildings becomes a reality. It is very important, because decisions made today will result in the improved quality of the life of users of the buildings over the coming years,” said Jean Luc Darras, technical director at RD bud in charge of sustainable development.

Each seminar will be divided into a theoretical part, including panel discussions, and practical workshops. The latter will be attended by all the participants of the seminar. The workshop participants will work in four groups covering all professional sectors involved in the investment process.

Participants will attempt to answer the following questions: How much can be gained by designing according to sustainable development concepts, is it worth it, and how can it be done?

The workshop participants will work on a model of an office building project in four groups covering all professional sectors involved in the investment process. Points will awarded based on knowledge of the building’s energy-efficiency issues, environment, planning and organization structure, rational use of land and water, as well as dealing with financial issues.

“We want the seminars to provide an opportunity both to acquire knowledge in the field of sustainable development and to meet business leaders in various industries related to the investment process. We encourage our partners to exchange experiences in the hope that they will boost the implementation of sustainable investments,” explained RD bud’s General Mangaer Eric Agnello.
